Everything Changes

Beginning summer 2010 I’m making the transition to the DSLR camera which produces a very high quality product. I’m slowly easing it into some weddings and personal events right now with my original equipment. It’s hard to find sleep these days, but who needs it when you’ve got so much to be excited about! Here’s a sneak peak at what I filmed at Jeni & Scott’s wedding and what I’m talking about.

**Update**You can now see their full trailer below filmed entirely on a DSLR.

June 28, 2010 - 7:53 pm AJ - Awesome!!! Lovin the new stuff!!!

March 26, 2010 - 1:28 pm Ben Godkin - Awesome! Can't wait to see what comes next! Love your style! Now with all new gear, you can take it to the next level!

Jeni & Scott

Another great wedding by way of the Terrace Club!  Jeni & Scott’s wedding was pretty special.  This was my first full DSLR quality trailer and it was a great experience.  Jeni and Scott are from New York so many, many of their friends and family came all the way to Texas to celebrate their special day.  They couldn’t have been a more polite and cordial group.  These New Yorkers really know how to party!  As the night went on, the dancefloor got packed and Houston from H² Entertainment had the Terrace Club rockin’.  This has to be the best Sunday wedding I’ve ever attended.  Jeni & Scott are my kind of couple.  They’re into good music, great food, and amazing company.  Thanks, and congratulations to them.  So this is their trailer.  Watch it!

Jessica & Micah – Save the Date

I’ve been very fortunate to work with a number of great couples during my time in the business. Jessica and Micah are definitely up there near the top! I tagged along with AJ from AJH Photography on this engagement shoot. This couple was a joy to work with because everything came so naturally to them. They were posing even when they weren’t told to pose! You can really tell that this couple is in love. This video is a “Save the Date” type video.  Enjoy.

May 11, 2010 - 8:08 am Micah - Look Great Richard!

May 11, 2010 - 7:21 am Jessica - Richard! I love it! Thanks for putting this together for us! Gosh you're good! and super quick! thanks again

Geordanna & J

I can’t say enough good things about this couple. Take a look at Geordanna & J’s Documentary Style Wedding Day Trailer. This is definitely a great looking, and charismatic couple. They couldn’t be nicer or more down to earth, and I had an unforgettable time filming their big day in Houston.

A touching moment for me was when Geordanna broke down during the vows. In my interviews with them before the wedding they talked about how unlikely it was she would cry, and then there it was happening before us. Those wedding vows can take you down! I love filming moments like that.

The reception was held at the Majestic Metro in downtown Houston which was an excellent choice. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much while editing a video and it was all because of the humor of Geordanna & J, who compliment each other so well. They’re huge Coldplay fans so they were perfect for my short-term dream/goal of fusing Coldplay’s “Life in Technicolor I & II,” together into one flowing song. Enjoy.

May 2, 2010 - 1:59 pm Geordanna Cordero-Fields - Thank you Richard! This is amazing!! Your so talented!

I and Love and You – The Avett Brothers

I’ve been lucky enough to have known for awhile now that this North Carolina band was special. This is one of their more popular songs out right now. It’s probably one of the best songs and albums I’ve heard in a long, long time. I thought I’d share this with you. Go buy their latest album that shares the name of this song. New video posts coming soon. Thanks for stopping by.

A (Sweet Leaf) Tea Ceremony

This is a clip from Mary & Rich’s wedding. The tea ceremony is an Asian tradition, and this one had a “Sweet” twist to it. Sweet Leaf Tea hooked up this couple with some cool Sweet Leaf Tea swag to use a their wedding. Sweet Leaf Tea is one of my favorite drinks and it was awesome to have it at dinner along with the great food from Austin’s one and only Pascal (http://www.pascalscatering.com/). Rich is riding with the Sweet Leaf team at this weekend’s MS150. Best of luck to them and may the wind be at their back!

April 16, 2010 - 4:34 pm Hanh - haha, Rich and Mary are so cute!!! Mary's side remarks are so funny, lol. While Rich was telling his story, I was like: uh-oh, no one has the tea...and then they improvised with the Sweet Leaf Tea -- yay!!!! :)))) I'm glad it worked out perfectly with their happy ending. =)

Jeni & Scott – Save the Date

Another awesome couple here folks. I had the chance to hang out with Jeni & Scott for their engagement photo shoot with photographer Matt Montalvo (www.mattmontalvo.com). I used the footage to make them a teaser for their upcoming wedding in May, and I even got a few nice photos with my camera when I wasn’t filming (see below). Great candid moments came very natural for this couple. I’m super excited to film their wedding in May. Congratulations to Jeni & Scott.

Here’s a pic I took.

Kimber & Nathan

This was my first wedding at the Marquardt Ranch out in Boerne, TX. It’s definitely a beautiful place full of scenery. Kimber and Nathan got married on one of my favorite kind of December days where it’s sunny outside yet cold at the same time. I was definitely feeling the layout of the ceremony. The guys were wearing skinny ties which I thought was an excellent choice. This was my first wedding where there was no reception dancing and I must say that I loved it. It’s nice to be able to get together with family and friends and just chat away. I was treated with the highest level of kindness by everybody involved. Thanks to Cordes & Lenard families for letting me be apart of it. Congrats to the happy couple.

Get Ready For Vegas

Jeremy is getting married June 2010.  Back in November we all went to Las Vegas for a few days.  This particular night I had my camera handy getting some great footage along the way.  After a long night of fun on Fremont Street we took a cab back to our hotel on the strip.  With the cab driver’s permission I took my camera and placed it on the dash the entire way back and this is what happened.  I hadn’t been able to touch the footage for a long time, but when I did I decided to make Jeremy a trailer for his bachelor party coming up next month.  Congratulations from Lizama Videography.

Technology

I’m constantly amazed by technology. Here’s an iPhone picture that an old friend of mine–from my Texas Panhandle days–took after an interesting day. She attended a Holi celebration which is an Indian tradition that marks the beginning of spring. It’s a beautiful picture all around that I just wanted to share it with you. It’s definitely inspiring. Much thanks to Katherine for the pic, and it’s the best mobile upload I’ve ever seen.
